Most city guides tell you what Bath was like whenever the page was last written. Bath Horizon is built to tell you what is happening today — what is on tonight, what is open right now, and what a street actually costs to live on.
What Bath Horizon is
Bath Horizon is an independent guide to Bath, Somerset. It covers two groups of people the city's existing websites tend to treat separately: visitors deciding what to do this weekend, and people working out whether they want to live here.
Those audiences overlap more than you would think. A visitor who spends a wet afternoon in Widcombe often ends up reading about what a two-bed there costs. So the same site carries the Roman Baths' evening opening times, a Bridgerton filming-location walk you can do for free, live listings from the city's box offices, and Land Registry figures for each postcode — with the neighbourhood guides linking the two together.
The site is run independently from Bath. It is small and deliberately so: no press-release reprints, no syndicated filler, and no listings copied from other directories.
Where the information comes from
Different kinds of information need different handling. Event times can be automated because box offices publish them reliably; a pub's dog policy cannot. Here is how each part of the site is sourced and how often it changes.
Event listings

Dates, times, venues and ticket links come straight from the box offices that sell the tickets, so listings reflect what is actually on sale rather than a page someone updated last season.
Opening hours & prices

Bath's big attractions change hours between summer and winter. Where hours shift seasonally we say so on the page rather than quoting a single figure year-round.
Pubs, cafés and music venues
Each record carries its own verified dateCompiled and verified in person and against official venue sources
Addresses, opening hours, phone numbers and details like beer gardens or dog policies are recorded per venue, not scraped from aggregators.

Figures are attributed with their source and date on the page. We do not publish an average price without saying where it came from.
How we write things
Four rules do most of the work.
We say when we don't know
If a date is provisional or a price varies by season, the page says so. A confident-sounding guess is worse than an honest 'confirm before you travel'.
Specific over superlative
We would rather tell you a café closes at 17:00 and has no wifi than call it 'vibrant'. Numbers, addresses and times are more useful than adjectives.
Corrections are quick and free
Spotted something wrong? Email us and we will fix it. Venue owners can correct their own details without buying anything — accuracy is not a paid feature.
Recommendations are not for sale
Which venues appear in our guides, and the order they appear in, is an editorial decision. Nobody pays to be recommended or to be written about more favourably.
How the site is funded
Bath Horizon is free to read and carries no paywall. It is funded three ways, and we would rather spell them out than bury them in a footer.
Affiliate links. When we link to a tour, hotel or spa session, that link sometimes earns us a commission if you book. It never costs you more than booking direct, and it never changes what we recommend or the order things appear in. Pages carrying these links say so on the page.
Display advertising. Some pages carry advertising. Ads are kept to a small number of fixed positions with space reserved for them, so the page does not jump around while you read. We do not run pop-ups, interstitials, or ads that follow you down the page.
Partnerships with local businesses. Estate agents, tour operators and venues can pay for clearly-labelled placements or for enquiries we send them. Paid placement is always marked as such and is kept separate from editorial recommendations.
If you ever cannot tell whether something is paid for, that is our mistake — tell us and we will make it clearer.
