Ordered roughly by occasion rather than rank. Awards are from the current MICHELIN Guide; everything here was
checked against the Guide or the restaurant's own site on 8 August 2026. Prices are a guide to what a
main or a share of small plates costs, not a promise — menus move.
Modern British tasting menus · The Queensberry Hotel, Russel Street · Tasting menus, roughly £95–140 a head
Bath's only Michelin-starred kitchen, and it has held the star since 2019. Chris Cleghorn cooks precise, produce-led tasting menus in the basement of the Queensberry. This is the special-occasion booking in Bath — and the one to reserve furthest ahead.
Menus & booking → Experimental tasting menu · Wellsway · Surprise set menu
You don't choose: you're given a daily-changing surprise menu, cooked in front of you in a tiny room dominated by the open kitchen. Playful, technical, and genuinely unlike anywhere else in the city. A short walk uphill from the centre — worth it.
Menus & booking → Small plates & wine bar · 5–8 Saville Row · Small plates, share 3–4 a head
A Bib Gourmand — Michelin's marker for genuinely good cooking at a fair price. Half wine bar, half bistro: order small plates, or pick a bottle from the shop next door and pay corkage to drink it at your table.
Menus & booking → Bakery by day, pasta by night · Walcot Street · Pasta around £14–18
One of Bath's best bakeries downstairs, a short seasonal menu upstairs. The pasta changes weekly and the bread is the same loaf people queue for in the morning. The most reliable mid-price dinner on Walcot Street.
Menus & booking → Small plates & wine · Chapel Row / Walcot Street · Small plates, plus low corkage on shop bottles
The model is the point: buy a bottle at shop price, pay a small corkage, and drink it with seasonal small plates. It means a good wine costs a fraction of what it would elsewhere in the city. Locals' favourite; book for weekends.
Menus & booking → Vegetarian & vegan · 2 North Parade Passage · Small plates and tasting menu
Bath's serious plant-based kitchen, on the site of — and by the team behind — the former Acorn, which was the first fully vegan restaurant in the UK to make the Michelin Guide. Organic and local produce, treated with real technique rather than as a substitute.
Menus & booking → Italian · North Parade · Mains roughly £15–25
Italian cooking in a vaulted stone cellar a minute from the Roman Baths — one of the few places genuinely close to the Abbey that isn't trading on the location. Small and popular: book, don't chance it.
